There are thousands of high school players out there that have aspirations of playing baseball in college. Approximatley 5.6% of those thousands of high school baseball players will go on to play at a NCAA member institution. Such a low percentage can shake your confidence but the more educated you are about the process will absolutely put you in a better position to succeed. Have you been wondering, are you good enough for college baseball? No worries, we are going to highlight 7 important questions you should be asking yourself.
The following 7 questions focus on essential topics to knowing if you're good enough for college baseball. If you
1. Do you run the 60 yard dash in 7 seconds or less and throw the ball over 80mph?
2. Are you academically eligible and do you have the SAT scores to pass NCAA Clearinghouse?
3. Are you a starter on your high school team who is a league all star in your conference?
4. Do you follow a strength and conditioing program designed specifically for baseball players?
5. Are you working with a hitting or pitching coach to improve your game?
6. Are you currently playing for an AAU team or other type of competitive travel team?
7. Have you been told by any of your coaches that they think you are good enough to play in college?
If you answered YES to most of the questions then you're well on your way. If you found yourself answering NO to a majority of the questions, please don't worry at all. It doesn't mean you're never going to play baseball in college. It is designed to help you give yourself an honest evaluation so you can have an idea if you are currently ready to play college baseball. Not everyone is a blue chip prospect that has college coaches banging their doors down. Most of us, including myself, have to work hard to imrove and get noticed. The important part is putting together a plan that will put you on the right path to succeeeding and getting to the college level!
